I am always itching to do something with unused billboards. This painting by  Erik Benson shows me that I am not alone.  I love the way he restricted the billboard’s colors to mostly black + white and placed them in this urban setting.  Then the beautiful way he used the negative space which, to me, makes it all seem clean + fresh.  This acrylic piece is a part of his Detouring series on display at the Edward Tyler Nahem gallery until the end of today (sorry for the late notice).   To see the rest of the show go to the gallery’s web page here.
