While some weeks soar by, others, like this week, seem to crawl.  But it’s Friday and I’m looking forward to getting off work n hitting up the museum.  It’s been a few months since I was there last, and I really want to reexamine the Takashi Murakami paintings.  My current paintings are coming along nicely, but one in particular is at a stand still.  Between the Ra Ra Riot show on Wednesday and the museum tonight, I think I’ll have enough fuel to get some serious work done this weekend.

Takashi Murakami

A few months ago, at the Portland Art Museum, I was fortunate enough to see two of Takashi Murakami’s paintings in the flesh.  They were wall sized, I would guess maybe 8′ x 20′ each, and full of vibrant colors similar to the paintings below.  His colors were not just bright, but some of them also had a shimmer effect, or looked as though glitter was blended into them.  Murakami was born in Tokyo in 1962, and now lives between Tokyo and New York.  If you get a chance to see any of his work, definitely check it out.
