Today I wish I could be in two places once.
In Portland, my art studio building the Portland Storage Co is having it’s biannual Open Studios. Tonight’s event correlates with Towne Storage Studios‘ annual event and will be a killer opportunity to explore Portland’s art scene from where it all starts. Find my work on the 7th floor in #7160. In addition to my paintings, there will be beautiful photography up from my studio mates Jon Duenas and Meredith Adelaide. The event goes from 5-9 PM and includes floors 2, 6, 7 and 8.

In Cannon Beach this weekend is the Stormy Weather Arts Festival. I will be attending an opening reception at Archimedes Gallery where I have some work on display. Tonight’s event begins at 4PM and will include beverages from Cannon Beach Distillery as well as live music. This arts festival is the largest art event of the year in Cannon Beach and I am excited to see it first hand. For more info go to cannonbeach.org and check out this cover story highlighting Archimedes Gallery.

Up for bid is my latest piece “Outside In.”
About the piece:
As we continue to populate the Earth, space, light and the natural environment become increasingly scarce. Thinking about our human needs as well as being conscious of our demands on the planet, I decided to introduce a painting that is for beauty sake and at the same time addresses these needs. Beyond being looked at, this painting reflects its environment while also expanding the perception of the space and light. Through this process all that is included in this space becomes a part of the painting, highlighting ourselves as active participants in the artwork and our dwellings.
“Outside In” features a custom, live edge frame and is acrylic on glass.
